BIO Designer:
Irene Ferrara (Palermo 02/07/1981)
Designer and craftswoman, my paper is the table and my pencil are the materials.
I try to create simple but new ideas that become, for those who own them, objects to carry with them over time.
I design by researching the identity starting from the material I choose; my intent is to tell an original but coherent story, born from the input that the material suggests to me and that finally materializes in an object that manages to transmit emotions to me.
I graduated in design and fashion planning at theAcademy of Fine Arts of Palermo.
I chose my city to produce my work because I believe that supporting one's own territory is a mission for those who do design and business.
SPAZIOiF Design in the workshop
We are a small brand made in Sicily which has its roots in the local shops, uniting design and artisanal manufacturing. We make bags and accessories only for men and women who want to make a difference.
We are mainly wholesalers, we sell our bags through trade fairs in Paris and Milan, our customers come from all over the world, Japan, Korea, China, South America and North America. Of course Europe, especially Belgium, Holland and Switzerland, but also Great Britain, France, Spain and Greece. We have a very branched customer portfolio, with a few but scattered customers with whom over time we have established a true relationship of trust which has currently allowed us to work with them remotely as well. In Palermo we welcome our private customers in the new showroom located in via Principe di Granatelli 65, right in the center, but in a secluded square, a place with modern and fascinating architecture where art and design merge and where you can take refuge to escape from the chaos of the most commercial streets.
Our philosophy
An object attracts us when we discover in it an identity and a history that we would like to share with ourselves.
belonged.
When designing, we try to tell this story by enhancing the identity of the object through the balance between shapes, colors and materials.
I don't like conventions, I always try to look at an object from a new point of view to create a new interpretation, this is why we define non-bags unconventional bag
I know I don't design bags for everyone, but I choose to complicate my life and I like that about my job too.
